From Headboard to Bench... Furniture re do

When we got out "new" bedroom furniture one problem we encountered was, without a foot board our duvet {notice I got my shabby chic one from Target} kept falling off the bed... Annoying! I decided we need a bench at the foot of our bed, and I wanted it made from a twin headboard.

I picked up this twin bed at our local thrift shop for 9 bucks.
My hubby took the side rails cut them down and modified them to hook into the head and foot board. Then he cut down the foot board so it was lower.
We used the remainder side rails as the slats for the seat.

I spent the day sanding and painting and sanding again...
♥ it!

  7. Looks awesome..I use the bottom of an old hall tree. Someone cut the top part off at some point in time and then the bottom showed up at an auction. Most didn't know what they could do with it so I got it for a buck. It works great as it is proper height to sit and put shoes on and it has a lift top that hides the sheets and blankets.

  9. Well done friend!!! Great job of investing more time and effort than $'s and in the end having something worth showing for your efforts!!! I really like it!! Too bad I don't have room between the end of our bed and the dressers to put something there. It would so help with the sliding blanket sceniero.

    Congrats on your new beding :-}
