I just started caring for a brand new baby! He is awesome... Today is his Mama's birthday, he "made" his first craft. I had a lil wooden 5 inch plaque, painted it green traced his teeny tiny hand on scrapbook paper and made a shamrock. Then used rub on letters for "lucky"...I miss my boys hands being so tiny!
Awwwww that is just too CUTE!! I bet his Mama was thrilled to receive that present!

ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea!!! When I started watching my one little girl I traced her hand and we made those turkey shirts that I posted about 2 years ago. Her mother loved it, and her little girl actually wore it for Thanksgiving!

The hands thing brought two different memories to mind. When I was a teacher's aid in preschool, we helped all of the kids make the turkey things like 'Rachel' mentioned. {we did ours like 13 years ago ;-p}. My siblings and I gave our parents ten grandchildren in eight years time. One Thanksgiving, while all of the kids were still quite young, we made our parents a big poster / wall hanging featuring turkeys from one of each of the kids hands. We then wrote the childs name right under the body of their turkey. We painted each 'turkey feather' different colors, and all of the bodies of the turkeys brown. It had turned out wonderful / adorable.
When I was young, it must have been at some sort of a church thingie, we made wall hangings out of plaster of paris which had one hand print in the middle. They were made in small sized tin pie pans [like pot pies come in], so once they were hardened and removed, they had this nice/cute little ribbed edging to them. Before they had hardened, a straw had been pushed in so that there was a hole at the top. They had put a ribbon in the holes to hang the plaques with. My mom had them hanging in our upstairs bathroom for ye-ar-s.
How many kids do you do child care for?
