Burp Cloth Tutorial "Lil' Burpies"

Purchase cloth diapers, I use Gerber diapers in a 12 pack from WalMart. Get some super cute fabric, I like using flannel.

Cut a 6 inch by 18 inch strip of fabric, I use this quilting template and rotary cutter.

Then place the fabric over the thick center of the diaper, then fold about a 1/4 inch on each side and pin.

After the sides are pinned, turn the ends under even with the edge of the diaper.

Sew around all edges.

Finished, you can really make a dozen in very little time...

You can check out Brody's nursery complete with his burp clothes.

*Iron, fold, roll, and place in a basket.

Great idea. I am accumulating lots of scraps from the aprons I have been making, and I think they will be perfect for this. I am going to be making some budget gifts to give and this will great to add. I know Emilie is going to enjoy them. Jackie

Those are so cute!! I've embellished the cloth diapers with ribbon before, but never fabric. My best friend is pregnant with her first, I will have to make her some.
Thanks for the tute!!

I just thought of a question... Did you put a layer in between the diaper and the flannel? I'm asking, because they felt nice and thick in the middle. Maybe it was just the diaper?

No, there isn't a layer in between, I do prewash everything and the center of the diaper you are covering is SUPER thick, washing makes it even thicker....
Great question.
