Mom's Fruit Cobbler

1 stick of butter
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups milk
4 cups of fruit I use one can of sliced peaches,
{but that is because I like the doughy cake part way better than the fruit}

Place butter in and 9 x 13 baking dish, set in your preheating oven {Preheat to 375 degrees} until butter is melted. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder,salt, and milk… Blend well. Pour batter over the melted butter and spread fruit evenly over the batter. You basically have 3 layers… butter, batter, fruit…
Bake for 40 minutes.

This is very similar to my cobbler recipe, but you use twice the flour and sugar. I also love the cake part better than the fruit!

I make blueberry, apple, etc. And one tip - if you want more apple flavor, use apple juice for all or part of your liquid!

Your mom's recipe sounds delicious. I'll have to try it when fruit comes in to season here!

The batter rises and the fruit sinks while baking... The top turns a golden brown... delish

Thanks, Jenny--I have been trying to find a peach cobbler recipe that would make my husband swoon for 6 years--this one did it!
