Mighty Matt

Snowboard + 7 foot rail =

Broken right wrist {same wrist that was broken 2 years ago, requiring surgery}, Severely sprained left wrist, lung tissue damage, and chest contusions!
**Edit, Matt went to the orthopedic Dr. and he is NOT broken, the Dr. said both wrists are just very sprained but he saw no BREAK, I prefer to think Matt was HEALED, Praise the Lord, recovery will be much faster!

P.S. Hey Jenny did the doctor say the lung tissue damage and chest contusions would heal by themselves or is there something they will need to do to fix those? I will be sending up prayers for him. I bet he is bummed that snowboading season is over for him this year. :(

The lung tissue and chest contusions will heal on their own, he is no longer coughing blood. The concern now is the right wrist he is seeing the orthopedic dr. tomorrow to see if another surgery will be needed.

Yikes! I hope he heals quickly and doesn't require another surgery. I'm sure he'll be back out on that snowboard in no time!

that is good news that there are no broken bones! But still yikes! My son is going snowboarding with his dad. I will show him this post to remind him that he can get hurt!

Jen, we were such regulars at the ER that they (the staff) use to tease "one more visit and she gets a Tim Taylor cup". ;-p

How is Matt doing now? How is mom doing?!?!?!

Let's see, both hands bandaged ... that means there were lots of things he could not do for himself, and I'm sure that he was ever so happy about each and every one of them. NOT!

Do you need me to send Pepsi? How about chocolate? ;-p

When son #4 was in fourth grade, he got hit by a car - and I saw the whole thing! Yup, horrors! Turned out he had both bones broken in one leg, a hole in his lungs, a tear in his spleen (if they had been reversed, he would have had surgeries on them), broken ribs, a night in Intensive Care ...

Once son #2 was on crutches for a broken leg which he was NOT to even sit on the floor, and son #4 was on them for a floating knee cap, and he too was not to sit it on the floor.

What memories ....

And then ....

A-n-yways, I wanted to know that YOU have my full sympathy and understanding!!!

Yes, I do care about Matt. But I also know what it's like to be the mom - nursing them, helping them, taking them to appointments .... just reminding you that I care Jen! :-D

Horrible, but what a blessing that he didn't break anything...I'm hoping that he's back to all the sports very soon! I have a chest wall contustion from lifting Christmas storage boxes(spent Christmas eve in the ER)...crazy, hurt so bad, then it just went away. Maybe that will give him some hope ;-)
